Overview

In this role, the VP of Financial Planning & Analysis is responsible for ensuring that the company’s finances are accurately forecasted, analyzed, reported, and communicated.  Working closely with the Chief Financial Officer and other members of the leadership team, this role serves as a strategic partner, modeling, analyzing, and communicating data trends, identifying opportunities for operational improvement and cost savings to help drive business growth forward.

 

Please Note: This is not a remote position and requires candidate to live in or near the surrounding areas of Detroit, Michigan.

Responsibilities

Responsibilities:

  • Develop financial models and reporting, including revenue recognition and physician compensation, that provide insights into how different scenarios may impact physicians, affiliated practices, and the organization's financial performance.
  • Dive deeply into Physician Compensation and Practice Revenue recognition and become a subject matter expert to provide additional insights and communicate these concepts to physicians and other team members.
  • Use financial models to make informed decisions around capital allocation, budgeting, forecasting, and strategic planning.
  • Effectively communicate financial information to various stakeholders, in a clear manner so that stakeholders can easily understand the information and collaborate on the information, as needed, for a mutual resolution towards driving growth.
  • Assist CFO in annual budget process and help ensure that the budget aligns with the overall strategy of the company. This includes communication with departments, updating templates, and building assumptions.
  • Identify and research variances to forecast, budget, and prior-year expenses, proactively identifying opportunities for improvement.
  • Stay current on industry trends and economic conditions in the market to make educated decisions on potential risks that may impact the business.
  • Create presentations that provide insightful analysis, identify required action items, and effectively frame decisions to be made.
  • Leverage technology to increase efficiency and effectiveness of data analysis and reporting.
  • Collaborate across departments to support financial requests, analysis, data needs, and communication.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with stakeholders, at all levels of the organization.
  • Work on corporate projects and initiatives, as assigned, that impact the entire organization.
  • Manage tasks, processes, and workflows for team of director and analyst level staff. Provide coaching and mentorship to team to continue to elevate the department’s ability to support the continued growth of the organization

Qualifications

Skills & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, economics, or related degree.
  • Minimum of 7 years of directly related FP&A (or equivalent) experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.  Able to communicate complex financial information to stakeholders in a clear and concise manner. 
  • Superior attention to detail. Quickly spot errors or inconsistencies in financial data.
  • Structured and Logical Thinking: Superior critical thinking skills are critical to this role, including the ability to identify and define problems, collect data, establish facts, and understand downstream effects of decisions.
  • Very strong coaching and leadership skills.  Actively listen, coach, solve problems, and manage conflicts in dynamic and stressful environments.
  • Advanced Excel skills are required.
  • Relevant Industry Experience: While not required, experience working in healthcare or private equity is strongly preferred. An understanding of revenue recognition in a healthcare setting and physician compensation models is desired.
