Overview

Together Women’s Health is dedicated to providing exceptional support to healthcare providers, ensuring optimal patient care through effective practice management. We are seeking a detail-oriented Certified Medical Coder to join our dynamic team. The Certified Medical Coder will be responsible for accurately coding and billing OB/GYN medical services, ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines. The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of OB/GYN and urogynecology coding practices, and will work collaboratively with our clinical and operational teams to enhance the revenue cycle processes to maximize collections and reduce denials.

 

This is a remote position. 

 

Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign codes to diagnoses, procedures and services, using ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes.
  • Review and analyze clinical documentation to ensure code accuracy and sequencing in accordance with government and insurance regulations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers on any documentation that is insufficient or unclear.
  • Communicate with other clinical staff regarding documentation requirements and improvements.
  • Conduct research in cases where the coding is complex or unusual.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations, including HIPAA and billing guidelines.
  • Assist in the resolution of coding-related denials and appeals.
  • Maintain knowledge of current coding practices and updates in the OB/GYN specialty.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical coding, preferably in an OB/GYN setting.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and OB/GYN-specific coding guidelines.
  • Commitment to a high-level of customer service.
  • Proficient in using EHR systems and coding software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Degree from accredited program or college/university
  • Current certification as a Medical Coder (CPC, CCS or equivalent)
  • 1 year of Athena Healthcare EMR experience preferred
  • Previous experience working within a large, private OB/GYN medical practice preferred
