Overview

The Revenue Cycle Manager will oversee and optimize the Accounts Receivable processes to ensure the timely and accurate collection of outstanding insurance and patient balances. This role will work closely with the billing and coding teams, as well as other departments, to streamline workflows, resolve issues, and enhance overall financial performance. The ideal candidate will have significant experience with Athena EMR and a proven track record in managing AR processes effectively.

Responsibilities

  • AR Process Management:
    • Oversee and manage the end-to-end AR processes, including claim resubmissions, denials management, and patient collections.
    • Develop and implement strategies to reduce days in AR and improve collection rates.
    • Monitor AR aging reports and take proactive measures to address any issues or delays.
    • Troubleshoot and resolve system-related issues affecting AR processes, including oversight of posting issues and payor correspondence.
    • Provide training and support to staff on Athena EMR functionalities related to revenue cycle management.
  • Team Leadership and Collaboration:
    • Lead and mentor the AR & Customer Service team, providing guidance and support to enhance performance and professional development.
    • Collaborate with charge entry team and other functions to address and resolve AR-related issues and ensure operational efficiency.
  • Performance Reporting and Analysis:
    • Analyze AR metrics and key performance indicators to identify trends and areas for improvement.
    • Compile data submissions for payor-related projects with project management oversight
    • Prepare and present regular reports on AR performance, including key metrics and action plans for addressing any challenges.
  • Compliance and Best Practices:
    • Ensure adherence to regulatory requirements, payor policies, and best practices in AR management.
    • Stay updated on industry trends and changes in billing and coding regulations with communication to stakeholders on modifications needed

Qualifications

  • High school diploma required, with preference for Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Healthcare Administration, Business or other related field.
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in revenue cycle management operations, with a strong focus on accounts receivable
  • Experience in women’s healthcare-related specialties preferred
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, and ability to problem-solve
  • High level of attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, and manage projects to completion
  • Advanced working knowledge of Microsoft Excel
  • 1+ year of Athena Healthcare EMR Experience preferred
  • AAPC or AHIMA Certification is a plus (e.g. CPC/CCS)
