Overview

Together Women’s Health is dedicated to providing exceptional support to healthcare providers, ensuring optimal patient care through effective practice management. We are seeking a detail-oriented Certified Medical Coder to join our dynamic team. The Certified Medical Coder will be responsible for accurately coding and billing OB/GYN medical services, ensuring compliance with regulations and guidelines.

 

The ideal candidate will possess in-depth knowledge of OB/GYN and urogynecology coding practices, and will work collaboratively with our clinical and operational teams to enhance the revenue cycle processes to maximize collections and reduce denials.

 

Athena EMR experience is required.

 

This is a remote position.

 

Responsibilities

  • Accurately assign codes to diagnoses, procedures and services, using ICD-10, CPT and HCPCS codes.
  • Review and analyze clinical documentation to ensure code accuracy and sequencing in accordance with government and insurance regulations.
  • Collaborate with healthcare providers on any documentation that is insufficient or unclear.
  • Communicate with other clinical staff regarding documentation requirements and improvements.
  • Conduct research in cases where the coding is complex or unusual.
  • Ensure compliance with all federal and state regulations, including HIPAA and billing guidelines.
  • Assist in the resolution of coding-related denials and appeals.
  • Maintain knowledge of current coding practices and updates in the OB/GYN specialty.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in medical coding, preferably in an OB/GYN setting.
  • Strong knowledge of medical terminology, anatomy, and OB/GYN-specific coding guidelines.
  • Commitment to a high-level of customer service.
  • Proficient in using EHR systems and coding software.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.

 

Required Education and Experience:

  • Degree from accredited program or college/university required
  • Current certification as a Medical Coder (CPC, CCS or equivalent) required. AAPC member ID number will need to be provided  to verify certification
  • 1 year of Athena Healthcare EMR experience required
  • Previous experience working within a large, private OB/GYN medical practice highly preferred
