Overview

This position requires three (3) days in office at our Grosse Pointe, MI Corporate Office.  The Director of Analytics and Business Intelligence is responsible for the direction, design, and implementation of data solutions, including raw data warehouse / data marts and business intelligence solutions that support and enable analysis for key stakeholders.  This position will help transform the business by continually utilizing data and analytics to improve operational and financial results.  This individual will be a subject matter expert in utilizing data to validate hypotheses to inform and articulate business narratives.

 

The Director of Analytics will be a high-profile role because this position will be leading the “system of truth” for the organization.  This role will be responsible for C-Suite reporting and recommendations.  In addition, this role will help drive an agenda of upskilling the entire organization on the use of data to make informed business decisions.

Responsibilities

General

  • Establish and promote the vision for TWH’s Business Intelligence (BI) function
  • Develop and execute the strategic plan for the company’s BI vision and goals
  • Facilitate conversations and meetings with senior leadership to promote organizational understanding of BI capabilities and understand the organization’s needs for BI support
  • Design and manage TWH’s corporate and field automated reporting cadences and corresponding license and information technology requirements
  • Responsible for managing external vendors, future staff team members, as well as hands on contribution
  • Enhance the use of data as the main source in developing and delivering narratives to stakeholders, including the leadership team, board of directors, and other relevant parties
  • Forecast annual budget and manage and approve all Analytics and Business Intelligence-related expensesIn coordination with the Vice President of IT, manage the renewal and or procurement of any application licenses required for Analytics and Business Intelligence Applications
  • Develop internal policies and procedures (standards, controls and metrics) while documenting and maintaining a comprehensive and up-to-date data dictionary. Ensure data warehouse and reporting services comply with security and regulatory standards, including HIPAA and SOC. Work closely with vendors and internal teams to implement data governance best practices, ensuring full compliance.
  • Provide training to corporate team members, providers, and operational field staff on effectively utilizing automated reports and dashboards.
  • Data Warehouse and Visualization Ensure data strategy and roadmap is set to deliver a scalable data warehouse which enables rapid analytics and business insight as the organization continues to grow**
  • Gather requirements, create technical designs, and document and implement solutions to satisfy business and development needs
  • Interact with senior leadership at a high-level concerning the alignment of the data warehouse and BI capabilities with long-term business needs
  • In collaboration with the COO and CFO, lead the direction and design of credible, robust, and easy-to-use KPI dashboards that help management understand and measure operational and financial performance
  • Use quantitative and qualitative techniques to assess a broad array of business issues and distill them into key items and proposed actions
  • Develop and build BI Dashboards to support the visualization of frequent data requests
  • Ensure data integrity and accuracy within the data warehouse environment by implementing robust data validation processes, conducting regular audits, and establishing error-checking mechanisms.

 

Advanced Analytics

  • Develop the strategic roadmap for analytic capabilities (i.e. measurement systems for sales/marketing/patient/practice/revenue cycle performance, simulation/forecasting methods, scenario planning) to drive business and client outcomes**
  • Mine and exploit data to identify trends, patterns, and insights to promote growth, achieve the business’s strategic objectives, and guide strategic decision-making.
  • Build and implement various types of predictive models, segmentation strategies, optimization algorithms, and data mining analysis.
  • Utilize PowerQuery or SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS) to query underlying data tables and address the team’s ad hoc data requests or inquiries.

Qualifications

Position Qualifications:

Qualifications of the successful candidate will include:

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or equivalent industry experience required; Master’s Degree in related area preferred
  • 10+ years of related Business Intelligence, data warehousing and analytics experience
  • Healthcare data experience is strongly preferred
  • Experience with database design best practices, including normalization, query optimization, referential integrity, and logical database architecture
  • Must have a track record of leading/delivering business analytics solutions (i.e. customer analytics, data monetization, product optimization)
  • Solid working knowledge of BI center of excellence and/or analytics as a service delivery and organizational models
  • Advanced knowledge and experience using Microsoft Power BI, SQL, Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Analysis Services, and Azure SQL Server
  • Ability to quickly understand business requirements and transform user requirements into queried reports / stored procedures
  • Excellent communication and storytelling / presentation skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical issues to a non-technical audience
  • Advanced experience with automated reporting design and implementation
  • Exceptionally detail oriented and ability to cross-check work to user specifications
  • Proficient working independently and as a supportive team member
  • Accustomed to fast-paced environments with simultaneous, high-priority tasks
  • Must be capable of performing in a dynamic environment, handling multiple tasks simultaneously with the ability to work on multiple projects at any time

Compensation:
