Overview

Women First OBGYN, a practice partner of Together Women's Health is seeking a full-time Charge Registered Nurse. The Charge Registered Nurse (Charge RN) is a clinical leader responsible for overseeing patient care activities and nursing staff during assigned shifts. This role combines direct patient care with administrative duties to ensure safe, effective, and efficient nursing services. The Charge RN functions as a resource for staff, facilitates communication among healthcare team members, and upholds standards of quality care and regulatory compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate and supervise nursing staff during shifts to ensure high-quality patient care.
  • Delegate assignments and ensure appropriate staffing based on patient acuity and staff skill levels.
  • Support and mentor nurses, providing clinical guidance and addressing performance or workflow issues.
  • Act as a liaison between nursing staff, physicians, patients, families, and ancillary departments.
  • Monitor patient care activities and assist in complex or emergency cases when needed.
  • Participate in shift huddles, hand-offs, and staff rounding to promote continuity of care.
  • Ensure compliance with policies, procedures, and safety standards.
  • Assist in the orientation and training of new staff.
  • Monitor and document incidents, ensuring appropriate follow-up and reporting.
  • Provide input to management on staffing, supplies, and performance improvement.
  • Maintain accurate documentation and electronic medical records as per facility protocols.

Qualifications

  • Graduate of an accredited nursing program
  • Current and valid RN license in Michigan
  • Minimum 2–3 years of clinical nursing experience.
  • Prior leadership or charge nurse experience preferred.
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) required.
  • ACLS, PALS, or other specialty certifications preferred
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficient in electronic health record systems. Athena EMR highly preferred.
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities and respond to emergencies effectively.
